The Inconvenient Spark

2025

series of watercolor paintings for the Wild Hyacinth Magazine

This series is an open letter to the places we’ve lost and a quiet celebration of the effort it takes to stay connected. It is a visual commentary on the erosion of our “Third Spaces”, those vital, shared patches of ground outside of our homes and our jobs where community is actually built.

Coast to Coast

2024

handstitched quilt

Some stories begin in the most unlikely ways. This piece celebrates a bond born in a university dormitory and nurtured across a continent.

Lavender Mess

2024

ink, watercolor, and pen on cold press paper

Personally, this piece reflects my own journey of coming out as a queer woman and discovering the deep, vibrant contrasts within my community’s history.

confused calm

2024

ink, watercolor, and pen on cold press paper

This series is a visceral escape from perfectionism, using the raw energy of punk rock and the decisive edge of a palette knife to map the “confused calm” found in the noise.

indigo joy

2024

ink, watercolor, and pen on cold press paper

An abstract exploration of the “joy in sad lyrics,” inspired by the indie-folk music of Donovan Woods and Kellie Loder. These works trade perfectionism for emotional fluidly, mapping the calm and resonant textures of music like Unlikely Seas onto paper.

better with company

2024

ink, watercolor, and pen on cold press paper

A pair of paintings exploring the quiet rituals of campfire meals. The intentional gap in the image (featuring a firepit, grill, and sheet pan) reflects the elusive nature of memory and the shared spaces built within a friendship.

resilience blooms

2024

acrylic on canvas

This piece serves as a “subtle queer statement,” reclaiming floral terms used to marginalize the community in the 1930s. As my first exploration into acrylics, it uses high-contrast imagery to celebrate the history and enduring strength of queer identity.

Fixed Points

2022-2025

watercolor pen and ink

A series of continuous line blind contour studies titled by their geographical coordinates. These works explore the interconnectedness of landscapes and the “fixed points” of peace found across both coasts.

Character Studies: Pixel to Palette

2023

watercolor pen and ink

A technical study focused on developing skills in character anatomy, lighting, and clothing drape. Using video game characters as structural guides, this series prioritizes the mechanics of humanoid drawing and paint control over a move toward realism.

Gifted Works

2022-2025

watercolor pen and ink

Highlights of custom-created works for the individuals and businesses that have shaped my artistic journey. These pieces are deeply personal tributes designed for specific recipients and are not available for public sale.
